Some of recently uploaded videos are still broken

Those videos are hosted on thumbsnap and are still not properly loading. When trying to view such videos on new tab using browser feature to view such video the is redirected to actual video page but the browser shows error like the video was corrupt or in unsupported format. Checking browser console shows 404 page on final url. It appears there's still something wrong or messed up on thumbsnap causing videos not showing properly, like not finished processing, not moved to right place or other unknown problem, etc.

So many broken images on loforo

It appears that the default image hosting provider on loforo is randomly deleting images w/o discretion. This generates alot of broken image posts with images leading to a 404 page. Loforo should either stop using thumbsnap and use alternative service or alternately host images on itself like it was before since a service that randomly deletes content is not reliable for job that it was given.

Edit: it appears that the missing images and videos reappear after some time since they'd been gone, this might be some issue on thumbsnap end and/or they're being restored there where I don't know which is an actual cause being there. Read More »

so, unlike on soup it seems its impossible to delete post from groups - even if you are a member of one. i did accidently sent one post somewhere where it shouldnt be and i cant remove it.

is thissome group admin only feature? hell no idea

Loforo Suggestions

@blog @loforo

I had some ideas for features that might be considered for implementation on Loforo

1. Some posts can be very long and it can be a chore to scroll past them when on the main page. I dont think it's a problem now (I've only seen a few so far) but perhaps it's worth looking into. Some websites hide the rest of the post after a fixed height and to see the rest you need to click some 'see more' banner at the bottom of the post. Something to think about.

2. Blocking currently works so that only direct posts are hidden. I think it makes sense to also hide any repost that was originally posted by the blocked user. Otherwise the hiding posts part of the blocking system is negated if the user is popular enough (gets reposted a lot) Read More »

Inserting paragraph after image and bugs related to it

Trying to insert paragraph after image is a very problematic. Cursor must be moved after it which is not possible in normal ways. The image must be selected, paragraph before it must be inserted and undone, only then image could be moved to the place after it. The next inserted element appears incorrect as it includes a class that should not be there. Using Mozilla Firefox ESR 102. The related behavior is shown in the gif below.

A Year of Loforo

Loforo went live a little over a year ago and we've had some pretty explosive growth thanks to you all.

Some Numbers

  • Over 2 million posts in the past year
  • ~800K posts imported from Soup users
  • Thousands of sites created
  • 940,000+ unique photos & videos uploaded
  • 600+ GB of media hosted

We've rolled out a bunch of features over the past year based on your input and have many others in the works (archive view, mobile app, etc).

If you have any features/improvements you would like please let us know in the comments or through the Contact link at the bottom of every page. We read all comments/emails! Read More »
